Ze zijn er weer - Here they are again

"Zeg het met bloemen"

Deze slogan werd jarenlang gebruikt om gevoelens tot uitdrukking te brengen, en soms hoor je het nog wel eens zeggen als men niet de juiste woorden kan vinden. En zo vergaat het mij nu ook. Deze post is meer een beeldverhaal omdat ik er zo weinig aan kan toevoegen.

"Say it with flowers"

This slogan was used for years to express feelings for other people. Once in a while it is still used when someone want to say a few kind things to the other but can't find the right words.. And this way I feel the same now. This post is an image story for you all who reads my blog regularly.


Elk jaar is het een spektapel als je binnen enkele dagen al die bollenvelden ineens in al hun kleurenpracht ziet. Er zijn zoveel soorten bollen in bloei te zien en in evenzoveel soorten en schakeringen. Al die verschillende soorten tulpen, narcissen, Hyacinthen en de komende weken komen er nog veel meer tot bloei.


Every year it is spectacular to see when within a few days all those flower bulb fields show their color beauty. I know, the same happens in the NW of the US and in different places in Canada, but here it happens a few hundred meters from my house. There are so many kinds of flower bulbs to see blooming and in so many different kinds and shapes. After all these different tulips, daffodils, Hyacinthes there is much more we can expect in the coming weeks.

Gisteren, donderdag 16 april, was het een prachtige zonnige dag en na al die koude en natte dagen kreeg ik de lentekriebels en ging er op uit om wat foto's te maken in de omgeving. Al dit moois staat bijna in de achtertuin.

Yesterday, Thursday, April 16, was a beautiful sunny day and after all the cold and wet days we have had I got that strange Spring feeling and I went outside to shoot a couple of photos in our neighbourhood. All this beauty lies almost in our backyard.

Eindeloze velden met tulpen in vele kleuren en verschillende vormen.

Endless fields with tulips in many colors and different shapes.

Hiacynthen en overal die grote schuren voor opslag en bewerking van de bollen.

Hyacinthes and everywhere these large sheds for storage, cultivation process and packing for transport of the flower bulbs.

Rondom de boerderijen heerst ogenschijnlijk rust, maar er wordt op het land en in de schuren keihard gewerkt om de bollen na het binnehalen te bewerken en klaar te maken voor verzending naar alle uithoeken van de wereld.

Around the farms it seems to be a place of rest, but on the fields and in the sheds there is a lot of hard work to be done to get the flower bulbs from the fields and to make them ready for trade and to send them all over the world.

Bloemen groeien overal, ook op plaatsen waar eigenlijk nooit iemand komt. Vooral bloeiende narcissen, gewoon langs de slootkant of ergens langs de weg. De narcis is een heel sterk bolgewas. eenmaal in de grond geplaatst kan hij jarenlang opnieuw opkomen en in bloei komen. Ook narcissen zijn er in ontelbare varieteiten net als tulpen.

Flowers grow everywhere, also on places where actual never someone comes. Especially blossoming daffodils, usually along a ditch side or somewhere along the road. The daffodil is quite a strong flower bulb, once placed into the ground they bloom every year. Also daffodils are found in countless varieties just like tulips.

Lopend langs velden met hiacynthen wordt je bijna verblind door de felle kleuren en de bedwelmende geur.

Walking along fields with Hyacinthes you get almost dazzled by the colors and seized by their typical heavy smell.

De afwisseling tussen al die soorten bloemen doet de tijd vergeten en voordat je het weet ben je uren verder.

The alternation between all those kinds of flowers and fragrances makes you forget the time and before you know many hours have passed.

Nog even al dit moois bewonderen want deze bloeiperiode duurt maar kort en binnen enkele weken zijn deze kleurige velden weer leeg en wordt er weer uitgekeken naar andere soorten, maar wat hierna komt is niet zo heftig als wat er nu te zien is.

There isn't much time left to admire this bloom period, within a couple of weeks these colorful fields are empty again and are we looking forward to the next wave of flower bulbs of a many different kinds.

What do I have to add at this? I did everything I could to tell you the story with flowers.

Het was een mooie dag en ik heb genoten van deze lentedag. Nu naar huis om de foto's op mijn computer te zetten, te bewerken, sorteren, in mijn weblog te plaatsen en er wat teksten bij te plaatsen om mijn dagje te delen met wie daar plezier aan beleeft.

Een fijn weekend toegewenst.

It was a beautiful day and have I enjoyed this spring day. Now I am back home to transfer the photographs to my computer, to work them out, making choices to place the photos in my weblog and to write and translate some words to share my day with people who like to read my experiences.
