It has been more then a week that I was here to write something. In fact I had a small story on the shelf, however, some other occupations came by and hampered me from writing. Each time I postponed it, nevertheless I write it right now. Last week (April 15), I drove direction Den Helder, with the intention to return once more to the park " The Dark Dunes". I wanted to go back and find that one, particular tree I knew from years ago and wanted to find out if it still exists.

I knew still exactly where that tree was, because in former days we went regularly to this park with our children to feed the ducklings. An event which you can still observe by very small children or…. older people who have nothing better to do or just doing it to enjoy their rest. Then I walked straight to the spot where I knew the old tree from the 1960s was, but unfortunately ..... the tree was gone. It was a typical tree that hung almost horizontal above the water, its roots standing in the water. I think this was fatal for the tree over the years.

When I saw this little girl with her granny feeding the ducklings, then the past came very near and I thought back to similar moments which we experienced with our children more than 40 years ago. Times have changed, we have changed, but our memories have remained the same, always... and I nourish them.

In comparison with former times the park has become funnier. There is now a kind of "children's farm" with young goats and all kinds of chickens and cocks (rooster?) walking around, birds, turtles in the pond, and a place where even a lazy pig can take a sunbathe.

Op weg naar huis waren mijn gedachten nog heel lang bij die onvergetelijke dagen van weleer. Er is veel veranderd en soms weet ik niet goed of ik daar nu blij mee moet zijn of niet.
On my way back home my thoughts were still at those unforgettable days when we were young. Much has been changed and sometimes I still do not know if I should be glad with these changes.
