Meet Rex

Rex is bij ons gekomen via een advertentie op Internet. Daar zagen we een kleine advertentie met een foto van hem, waarin kenbaar werd gemaakt dat er een met spoed een goede baas voor hem werd gezocht om te voorkomen dat hij in het dierenassiel zou worden geplaatst. Rex heeft al veel meegemaakt in zijn jonge leven want zijn vorige baasje is overleden en twee herdershonden was voor de weduwe een te grote opgave. Daarom moest Rex elders worden ondergebracht. De zoon en schoondochter die een goed tehuis voor hem zochten hebben hem zelf gebracht, ook om te kijken of hij wel goed terecht kwam, en ik denk dat dat wel gelukt is.
Vanaf de eerste dag dat hij bij ons kwam, nu ruim drie maanden geleden, zijn we dagelijks naar het strand geweest om hem daar te laten hollen en spelen met andere honden en dat gaat wonderbaarlijk goed. In de kortste tijd weet hij vriendschap te sluiten met allerleid soortgenoten. Eerst even aan elkaar snuffelen en dan uitdagen tot een wedstrijdje hardlopen, jagen en gejaagd worden.
Rex heeft inmiddels ook geleerd om te reageren op tekens en geluiden om hem te laten gehoorzamen en dat is voor baasje en hond wel prettig om op die manier samen te werken.De zon daalde snel boven zee op deze dag en zo'n dagelijks uitstapje langs het strand duurt al gauw 1½ to 2 uur. Als baas en hond moe zijn geworden dan gaan we weer huiswaarts.
Thuisgekomen is het goed rusten in een hoekje van de zitbank. Dat is bij ons thuis geen enkel probleem. Hij hoort er helemaal bij en voelt zich prima zo. Lekker uitrusten voor de volgende dag om dan weer samen op pad te gaan en weer andere mensen en honden tegen te komen.
's Zomers is het niet toegestaan om honden tussen 07:00 uur en 19:00 uur los te laten op het strand, maar vóór en ná die tijden is het geen probleem. Aan de lijn is het ook goed te doen, daar leert hij ook van.

Niewjaarsduik 2011 - New Years Dive 2011
Op deze Nieuwjaarsdag heb ik vanmorgen eerst een flinke strandwandeling gemaakt met onze nieuwe hond Rex, daarna ben ik alleen naar Julianadorp gereden om de Nieuwjaarsduik 2011 op video vast te leggen. Als je het leuk vind kun je even meekijken naar het startschot om precies 13:00 uur vanmiddag.

Badende vrouw - Bathing woman
Toen ik gisteren bij de fysiotherapeut in Petten vandaan kwam, liep ik nog even langs de vijver die voor het gebouw ligt. Ineens zag ik verscholen achter een dikke rietkraag dit mooie beeld in het water staan. Het is werkelijk een prachtig bronzen beeld van een badende jonge vrouw . Ik heb uitgebreid op internet gezocht naar de maker van dit dit kunstwerk maar heb niet de informatie gevonden die ik zocht. Ook de VVV-kantoren van Petten en Callantsoog konden mij er niets over vertellen en dat is op zijn zachtst gezegd een beetje raar. Zodra ik meer te weten ben gekomen zal ik dat hier later toevoegen.
Yesterday, when I left the physiotherapist in Petten, I walked along the pond which lies in front of the building. Then I saw this beautiful statue standing behind a thick collar of reed. It is really a magnificent bronze statue of a bathing young woman. I have searched extensively on the Internet for the creator of this art work but I couldn't find the information I was looking for.. Also the Tourist Information Offices of Petten and Callantsoog could not tell anything about it and that is odd. As soon as I get more information I let you know here later.
